Seattle On
On community:
Seattle is lucky to have such a strong network of vibrant farmers markets across the city. These markets have put down deep roots in our neighborhoods, changing the way Seattle thinks about food. Market day permits us to slow down a little, see our neighbors, and take the time to stop, chat, and smell the basil together. Farmers market day is an authentic experience in a culture that has largely lost touch with where our food comes from.
Our neighborhood farmers markets are that great good place where we have the unique honor of actually meeting the people who grow our food. For a few short hours on market day, our urban and their rural lifestyles meet and mingle, and we learn from each other. Our Seattle neighborhood farmers markets provide nourishment for the body, and they also nourish our sense of community and place.
