While a ton of respect goes to the Sub Pop Records founders, those at the heart of the music business today largely credit Megan—now Vice President—with keeping Sub Pop in the driver’s seat as one of the world’s leading indie music labels. As a salesperson for Sub Pop Records in the early ’90s, Megan was a consummate prankster, gaining music industry fame for hoodwinking a reporter from the New York Times with a bogus “dictionary of grunge” as retribution for overexposing the thriving Seattle scene.
