As the co-founder of Salumi Artisan Cured Meats—the best Italian meats in the city—Armandino brought to Seattle a new concept based on some very old ideas. Now retired and taking up mandolin lessons, the patriarch of this grand Italian family (that includes son and famous chef Mario Batali) is focused on the preservation and promotion of the handmade food traditions of Italy and the Mediterranean. Seattle: jigging for squid on the Seattle waterfront, the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle’s farmers markets.
