A global leader in social and environmental issues, Alan moved to Seattle and founded Sightline Institute in 1993, where he’s published nearly a dozen books and written for more than 100 periodicals. He now consults on various advisory panels on sustainability, health, and “the new American Dream.” He also created the “Walk Score,” a widely adopted metric that assesses the walkability of cities and neighborhoods.
